History

The City of Tampere founded Tampereen Pysäköintitalo Oy in 1970. However, as early as the 1960s, the trend was to solve any future parking problems in the city centre by building a circle of multi-storey car parks around it.

Tampereen Paikoitusvaruste Oy, also known as P-varuste, was established in 1987 as the subsidiary company of Tampereen Pysäköintitalo Oy to support the activities of the parent company. The line of business for P-varuste was to design and carry out various parking management systems.

In October 2008, Tampereen Pysäköintitalo Oy and Tampereen Paikoitusvaruste Oy adopted the new marketing names Finnpark Ltd and Finnpark Technics Ltd. In the spring of 2009, the company boards decided to officially implement these names. The old names remained in the Group's ownership as auxiliary business names.

Multi-storey car parks in Tampere

P-Anttila was finished in 1974 as the first parking building of Tampereen Pysäköintitalo Oy, and incidentally, the first in the entire country. Some of the premises are rented out to e.g. the Anttila department store. In 1983, the second parking building, P-Asema, was built. When the Tampere Hall was built, more parking spaces were needed in the Tulli area. This resulted in the third parking building, P-Tulli, built in 1987. The building of the TTT Theatre created the need for P-Hämeenpuisto in 1990. Part of the property has always been rented out to the Go-Go Fitness Club and to Hotel Cumulus. In 2003, P-Frenckell was built beneath Keskustori Square. The plans paid even more attention than before to the comfort of the users. Finnpark's latest construction project, the underground parking facility P-Hämppi, is scheduled for completion in the autumn of 2012.

Finnpark also runs the parking areas in P-Plevna in the Finlayson area and P-Koskikeskus. The company now manages over 11,100 parking spaces, including street-side parking and the parking spaces in the Tampere University Hospital area.
