History

The city of Tampere founded Tampere Parking Houses Ltd in 1970. Already in the 1960s, the trend was to solve any future parking problems in the city centre by building a circle of multi-storey car parks around it.

Parking Equipment in Tampere Ltd, also known as P-varuste, was established in 1987 as the subsidiary company of Tampere Parking Houses Ltd to support the activities of the parent company. The line of business for P-varuste was to design and carry out various parking management systems.

In October 2008 Tampere Parkin Houses Ltd. and Parking Equipment in Tampere Ltd. took new marketing names Finnpark and Finnpark Technics. Spring 2009 the boards of the companies made a decision to take Finnpark Ltd. and Finnpark Technics Ltd. as new official trading names.

Multi-storey car parks in Tampere

P-Anttila was finished in 1974 as the first parking building of Tampere Parking Houses Ltd., and incidentally, the first in the entire country. Some of the premises are rented out to e.g. the Anttila department store. In 1983, the second parking building, P-Asema, was built. When the Tampere Hall was built, more parking spaces were needed in the Tulli area. This resulted in the third parking building, P-Tulli, to be built in 1987. The building of the TTT Theatre created the need for P-Hämeenpuisto in 1990. Part of the property has always been rented out to Go-Go Fitness club, and to Hotel Cumulus. In 2003, P-Frenckell was built beneath the Keskustori square. The plans paid even more attention than before to the comfort of the users.

Finnpark also runs the parking areas in P-Plevna in the Finlayson area, and P-Koskikeskus. The company now manages over 11,100 parking spaces, including street-side parking and the parking spaces in the Tampere University Hospital area.
